Lots of parents hope that their kids will enjoy reading books, but lots of parents are also disappointed – because this does not end up happening! When your children read books, they are able to expand both their mind and their capacity for learning (while also having fun!); but at the same time, you will probably find that your children view reading as a “chore” if you push them to read, and they will end up only reading when they have to. You can follow these tips if you want your children to read – and to actually enjoy reading – and you will find success!
One of the first things you will need to remember is the fact that children often tend to push back against the things they are told they “have to” do. At the same time, however, most children have a tendency to want to enjoy the same things their parents enjoy – often mimicking their parents. You need to recognize that it will have to be their choice, not yours, if they are going to actually read and enjoy reading! Because your child will tend to mimic you, you can nudge them toward reading by reading when you are around them; soon, you will find your child pulling their books out and reading as well. @@AMAZONWIDGET;children’s books;1000@@. You can also encourage your children to enjoy reading by treating reading as a “treat,” rather than as a task or chore. This can be accomplished in a couple different ways, but the first way – the way you can pursue even before your children can read on their own – is to read to them. When you do this, your children will begin to associate reading with a connection to fun and to special times. As your children begin to learn to read themselves, you can also “reward” them for good behavior by allowing them to read. One of the most effective ways to do this is – on the nights when your children have finished all their chores and homework – allow them to stay up for an extra 30 minutes of reading time before bed. Wanting your children to read is an excellent goal, but you must remember that you cannot force them to do it, or they will be unlikely to enjoy it! You have to make it a treat, and you have to make it their choice.-
